Option H33 is a specialized, upgraded version of the standard 2.0 to 8.0 GHz microwave amplifier. It features improved gain and sensitivity, making it an ideal local oscillator (LO) driver for harmonic mixers.
The Hewlett Packard 11975A is a general purpose, leveled amplifier from 2 to 8 GHz. It has an adjustable output of +6 to +16 dBm, plus an adjustable bias current output port that supplies a maximum of ± 11 mA at +3 volts that is used by some external harmonic mixers. The amplifier also has automatic level control (ALC) that can be enabled or disabled as required
The 11975A is commonly used as a LO driver for the Keysight 11970 / 11974 series harmonic mixers to boost LO power for maximum performance.
The 11970 series of millimeter wave mixers have no bias or back-short adjustments. 11970 Mixers require an LO power of 14 to 18 dBm at the LO input. If the spectrum analyzer used with the 11970 does not have sufficient LO power, an 11975A Amplifier or an equivalent is required to increase this power.
