Model: Tempo Research Tonearc Model 5     Condition: Reconditioned

The Tonearc is the replacement for the breakdown set.  Since applied current ionizes at the fault, no "breakdown" (welding) of the conductors occurs.  Because of this, the tonearc can be used on PIC faults up to 100k Ohms and can safely be used one side to ground as if the fault were solid.  The tonearc reads the distance to faults and supplies tracing tone for pinpointhing with the receiver.  It reads both DC voltage and resistance for fault pre-localization.
