The 356EPlus is a multimode responder. It is primarily intended for use in the Sage ALTS in cooperation with the hand-held 923LTS field unit. The responder also includes Type 105 and 105E.

 

The 356EPlus responder can be used for a wide range of applications in Central Office, PABX, and private network environments. Uses include quality assurance, preventative maintenance of voice and data circuits, and rapid qualification of data lines. The 356EPlus can be used in conjunction with the Sage 923LTS to completely qualify a new data circuit in less than 5 minutes.

 

The 356EPlus responder provides switched-access voice testing as specified for a Type 105 test line and responder, as well as impairment testing required for switched and dedicated data services.

 

All tests, thresholds, and test lengths are programed centrally and downloaded from the TSC to the 356EPlus. All-digital measurements ensure accuracy and reliability.

 

When used with Sage Instruments near-end responders or portable test equipment, all tests are run two-way (far-to-near and near-to-far).

 

The 356EPlus can operate using loop circuits. Seizure is from ringing. Future versions will be able to operate on loop, 4-wire, or E&M Supervision (Types I and II), or on dry circuits (no supervision). Seizure will be from ringing, sleeve ground, E&M, or special DTMF code for dry circuits.

 

The Sage Instruments 356EPlus voice/data responder is compatible with the CAROT system and with most other test systems, for all standard responder sequences.
