Sage 356E

This innovative responder provides switched-access voice testing as specified for the 105 series of test lines and responders, as well as impairment testing required for switched and dedicated data services.

The Sage Instruments 356E Voice/Data Responder is compatible with the CAROT System, and with most other test systems, for all standard responder sequences.  The enhanced impairment tests can be accessed either automatically by the Sage "S.T.A.R.S." software, semi-automatically by the Sage Instruments 930A Communications Test Set, or manually (one-way only) using a Touchtone keypad and a Transmission Impairment Measurement Set (TIMS).

This state-of-the-art, microprocessor-controlled system provides both automatic and manual control of the test sequences.  All tests, thresholds and test lengths are user selectable at the near-end, allowing the operator to select just the tests that are needed.  All-digital measurements insure accuracy and reliability.

When used with Sage Instruments near-end responders or portable test equipment, all tests are run two-way (far-to-near and near-to-far).  When accessed by a simple TIMS, the 356E Voice/Data Responder generates the necessary signals to allow the operator to make far-to-near measurements.  The Sage Instruments 356E Voice/ Data Responder can operate using Loop, Ground Start or E&M supervision (Types I and II), or on dry circuits (no supervision). Seizure is from ringing, sleeve ground, E&M, or special DTMF code for dry circuits.
