HP / Agilent N1677A

Offered as a highly integrated test capability to design, commission and maintain today's high-speed SDH and SONET services, the Agilent STM-4/OC-12 SDH/SONET Optical & Electrical Test Module for the Service Advisor enables users to quickly and easily test and troubleshoot network services.

Optical Interfaces

The N1677A features 622/155Mbps single mode 1310nm IR optical interfaces for testing at STM-4 and STM-1 SDH or OC-12 and OC-3 SONET rates.

Electrical Interfaces

This STM-4/OC-12 SDH/SONET module features 52 Mbps and 155 Mbps testing capability, enabling users to test at STM-0e and STM-1e SDH or STS-12c, STS-3c and STS-1 SONET line interfaces and to synchronize to standard E1-MTS (Maintenance Timing Source) or T1-BITS (Building Integrated Timing Source) reference timing sources.

BER Testing

The N1677A STM-4/OC-12 SDH/SONET Test Modules provide clear channel concatenated BERT testing VC-4-vc, VC-4 and VC-3 SDH or STS-12c, STS-3c and STS-1 SONET rates using standard PRBS, fixed and user programmable BERT patterns. The added flexibility of pattern inversion allows the modules to synchronize to other test equipment.

Timing Synchronization

To meet the timing synchronization needs of networks, the N1677A STM-4/OC-12 SDH/SONET Test Modules can be configured to synchronize to the receiver signal or to an internal 1ppm clock source. The N1677A can also be configured to synchronize to an external E1-MTS or T1-BITS timing source.

Status, Alarm, Error Monitoring and Testing

Whether its short or long term monitoring, the N1677A provides hierarchical SDH/SONET status information and detailed reporting of alarms and errors at the section, line and path levels. The module also permits the generation of a full set of SDH/SONET errors to verify connectivity, check operating thresholds and test network surveilance.

Detailed SONET/SDH Monitoring and Control

The STM-4/OC-12 Optical and Electrical Test Module provides pointer, APS, Section/Path Trace, and Overhead monitoring and control.
