Includes Fault location and structural return loss (Option 100) For fully characterizing cable performance and antenna feedline systems, this option provides both fault-location and structural-return-loss capability. Fault-location measurements help identify where cable or system faults, such as bends, shorts, or corroded or damaged connectors, occur. In addition to displaying faults in terms of distance into the cable or feedline, the magnitude of the fault is also displayed. Structural return loss is a special case of return loss (reflection) measurements, optimized for measuring periodic reflections of small magnitude. These periodic reflections can occur from physical damage to the cable caused by rough handling, or from minor imperfections imparted during the manufacturing process. Structural return loss problems occur when these periodic reflections sum at half-wavelength intervals, causing high signal reflection (and low transmission) at the corresponding frequency.
In less than three years, the ENA series has become the new standard for performance RF network analysis. Equipped with the core functions of the industry-standard ENA, the ENA-L (E5061A, E5062A, 300 kHz to 1.5 or 3 GHz) is the latest and most advanced low-cost solution for basic RF network analysis. So after over 10 years of service the 8712 and 8714 series will be discontinued. The last day to place orders for 8712/14 models is June 30, 2004.
The Agilent 8712ES features an S-parameter test set with full two-port vector-error correction, providing complete and accurate measurements of device S-parameters. Two independent channels can measure and display two parameters such as S21 (transmission) and S11 (reflection) in a variety of formats including delay and SWR, on rectangular, polar or Smith-chart displays. The Agilent 8712ES has a frequency range of 300 kHz to 1.3 GHz.
The ES models contain a 60-dB source attenuator as a standard feature, giving 70-dB of power-level control for testing active and passive devices. Both 50-ohm and 75-ohm versions are available.
